Brake Line Fittings
We receive calls every day where customers say something like "I need a 3/16 fitting."
That is just a tube size, so a lot more info is needed to buy brake line fittings. We really need info like "I need a stainless 3/8"-24 brake line fitting for 3/16" OD tube using a 45 degree inverted double flare."
Here is what you need to know to pick the right fittings.
- What size tube do the fitting slide onto? 3/16" OD or 1/4". This is just the tube size. There are many fittings sizes for 3/16" and for 1/4".
- Will you be making 45 degree inverted double flares or ISO/Bubble Flares? Fittings need to match the type of flare
- What size is the fitting? This is the trickiest part for most people. This is the diameter of the fitting measuring across the threads. You will also need to know the thread pitch.
- Choose plated steel or stainless steel for the material
